Our Corpo ra te Citizens h ip
Callaway Golf supports the concept that a company is more
financially profitable by also paying attention to corporate social
responsibilities. To that end, the Company has implemented a
series of innovative programs to give back to the communities in
which our employees live and work and in which the Company
conducts business.
Callaway Golf continues to support a number of key initiatives
that tangibly demonstrate our commitment to effective corporate
citizenship.
Several years ago, the Company established the Callaway Golf
Company Foundation as a grantmaking entity targeting youth,
family and health-related programs. An endowment has been
established and supported annually by the Company to further
support grantmaking by the Foundation. In addition, Callaway Golf
has created several programs to further reflect our commitment to
our employees and the communities in which they live: Callaway
Golf Company Employee Matching Gift Program; Callaway Golf
Scholarship Program; Callaway Golf Company Community Giving
Program; Callaway Golf Company Product Donations Program; as
well as Callaway Golf International Grant Program.
Each of these programs, whether directed internally to the employ-
ees of the Company or externally to the communities in which we
live and work, will continue to reflect and honor the legacy of Ely
Callaway, who valued innovation, measured results, and believed,
"By giving, you gain."
Beginning first in Canada and the UK, and eventually in Japan, South
Korea and Australia, we will work closely with the individual subsidiary
offices in those countries to identify and provide financial grants and
in-kind donations to registered charities selected on the basis of their
sector focus and reputation as community-based charities.
In 2002 the Company demonstrated its corporate citizenship in
the following ways:
242 employees and family members donated a total of 1,692
volunteer hours to complete monthly projects initiated by
our employee volunteer program.
14,011 product items, including golf clubs, golf balls, golf
bags and other golf accessories, were donated to junior golf
programs, high school golf programs or other charitable
organizations.
$1,231,735 was given by the Company to support the
Foundations endowment and grantmaking.
26 nonprofit organizations received grants from the Foundation.
173 charitable gifts made by our employees were matched
for a total of $24,747.
10 new scholarships and 4 renewed scholarships were
granted totaling $24,000.
$2,213,542 was Callaway Golfs total charitable worldwide
giving in 2002.
