Proceeds from sales of available-for-sale securities for the years ended December 31, 2003, 2002 and 2001 are ¥3,769 million ($35,182 thousand),
¥974 million and ¥632 million, respectively. Gross realized gains and losses on these sales, computed on the moving average cost basis, are ¥309 mil-
lion ($2,884 thousand) and ¥392 million ($3,659 thousand), respectively, for the year ended December 31, 2003, ¥199 million and ¥158 million,
respectively, for the year ended December 31, 2002 and ¥93 million and ¥438 million, respectively, for the year ended December 31, 2001.
