AIG management recognizes that the importance of continued attention to improving its internal controls, in
particular those related to the period-end financial reporting and consolidation process, income taxes and
accounting for non-standard transactions. AIG is committed to ensuring that the manual controls that have been
established remain effective and sustainable. Furthermore, AIG has begun implementing technology solutions to
mitigate the reliance on manual controls, some of which were implemented in 2010. However, the implementation
of these systems will take several years.
