The asset or liability’s fair value measurement level within the fair value hierarchy is based on the lowest level of any input that is
significant to the fair value measurement. Valuation techniques used need to maximize the use of observable inputs and
minimize the use of unobservable inputs.

SIGECO and Alcoa Generating Corporation (AGC), a subsidiary of ALCOA, own the 300 MW Unit 4 at the Warrick Power Plant
as tenants in common. SIGECO's share of the cost of this unit at December 31, 2013, is $186.3 million with accumulated
depreciation totaling $84.4 million. AGC and SIGECO also share equally in the cost of operation and output of the
unit. SIGECO's share of operating costs is included in Other operating expenses in the Consolidated Statements of Income.

Nonutility plant is presented net of accumulated depreciation and amortization totaling $541.7 million and $468.4 million as of
December 31, 2013 and 2012, respectively. For the years ended December 31, 2013, 2012, and 2011, the Company
capitalized interest totaling $0.5 million, $1.8 million, and $2.1 million, respectively, on nonutility plant construction projects.
