which we work. As an example,
Jarden spends on average in
excess of one million dollars
per day on brand and product
development. We challenge
ourselves to bring products to the
market which genuinely enhance
the everyday lives of consumers
who use them. This focus helps
us maintain our leadership
position in the marketplace and
contributes to expansion of our
gross margins with products
that still offer excellent value to
our customers.
Next, we seek to “Retain and
Develop the Best Talent”.
We believe that our most
important assets go home every
night. Providing development
opportunities for our employees
through business unit ‘university’
programs, cross business unit
councils and other initiatives is
a priority. Likewise, employee
recognition programs such as
the annual Chairman’s Award
of Merit and our Manufacturing
Excellence Award program
are important mechanisms
to acknowledge individual and
team efforts.
“Support the Individual, but
Encourage Teamwork” refers
to our desire to maintain the
entrepreneurial spirit of our
culture, which fosters and
rewards individual contribution
and creativity, while recognizing
that we are each part of a team
and can achieve more working
together to accomplish our goals.
To encourage teamwork and cross
business unit leverage of best
practices, we have established
over 25 enterprise-wide global
councils on areas ranging from
marketing to raw materials
procurement and inventory
management.
“Think Lean, Act Large” is the
expression of our appreciation
for the lean aspects of our
smaller niche businesses and
the importance of treating all
the Company’s assets as if they
were your own, while recognizing
that Jarden’s scale represents
a significant advantage to our
smaller businesses who are able
to leverage our Fortune 500
robust, global infrastructure to
develop better processes and
become more efficient. We
pride ourselves on avoiding
corpocracy, while maximizing
the benefits available due to our
size and scale.
“Listen, Learn and Innovate”.
We are passionate in our focus on
developing distinctive, authentic
market-leading products that
answer consumer needs or
desires. In 2012, we were proud
to accept in excess of 150
industry awards which recognized
the value of our work for the end
users of our products. Each
year, approximately 30% of our
revenues are derived from new
products introduced within the
previous three years.
