Financial Information by Business Segment and Geographic Data
Operating segments are components of an enterprise about which separate financial information is available
that is evaluated regularly by the chief operating decision maker in deciding how to allocate resources and in
assessing performance. Utilizing these criteria, we manage our business on the basis of one reportable operating
segment.
Net sales in the United States and Puerto Rico were $5.8 billion, $5.4 billion and $5.1 billion for 2011, 2010
and 2009, respectively. Net sales in Canada, denominated in United States dollars, were $0.3 billion, $0.3 billion
and $0.2 billion for 2011, 2010 and 2009, respectively. Substantially all our long-lived assets are located in the
United States.
