see the cover page hereof. For information regarding the high and low closing prices of the common stock for the
last two calendar years, see Item 8 “Financial Statements and Supplementary Data—Note 12 to the Consolidated
Financial Statements.”
As of March 7, 2003, Mattel had approximately 45,500 holders of record of its common stock.
Mattel paid dividends on its common stock of $0.09 per share April, July and October of 2000. As part of its
financial realignment plan, Mattel announced during the third quarter of 2000 a change in its dividend policy
consisting of a reduction in the annual cash dividend from $0.36 per share to $0.05 per share. In 2002 and 2001, a
$0.05 per share dividend was declared by the board of directors in November and paid in December. The
payment of dividends on common stock is at the discretion of Mattel’s board of directors and is subject to
statutory and customary limitations.
