Fluor starts a long relationship
with SASOL in South Africa
building coal-to-liquid plants
that were critical to the country’s
economic development.

Fluor is awarded a record-setting
$4 billion contract to build a
gas-gathering, treatment and
transmission program for Aramco.

Widespread use and implementation
of computer-aided design (CAD)
systems sets the path towards the
creation of global execution centers.

Construction starts on the Conway
Bypass, the fi rst design-build
highway project which Fluor was
fully responsible for executing.

Fluor designs and constructs
one of the world’s largest copper
mines at the Minera Escondida
project in Chile.
1993
Fluor trains over 14,000 workers
to help build the Rayong refi nery
for Shell in Thailand.
2005
Fluor mobilizes 4,500 workers
to support FEMA in aiding the
victims of hurricanes Katrina
and Rita.
2006
Fluor successfully completes
clean-up operations at the
uranium production plant
in Fernald, Ohio, for the
Department of Energy.

Fluor celebrates 50 years on the
NYSE. CEO Alan Boeckmann and

Fluor and Daniel Construction merge
to create a full-service engineering and
construction company, Fluor Daniel.
