Cobra’smobilenavigation
products,theSkyNav™2000
andtheSkyNav™3000,
receivedravereviewsatthe
2004InternationalConsumer
ElectronicsShow,including
a“BestinMobileElectronics
InnovationAward”forthe
SkyNav3000.Ourhandheld
GPSproductsfeaturethefastest
satelliteacquisitiontimeavailable
toconsumersandintuitive
drop-downmenus.Ourpremium
marineradiofeaturesthelargest
LCDdisplayintheindustryand
thefirstintegratedspeaker/
microphone.Eachofthese
innovationsmakestheradio
easiertouseinheavyseasor
overthenoiseofengines.Cobra
alsointroducedtheindustry’s
firstfulllineofextendedrange
GMRS/FRStwo-wayradioswith
3,6,8and10-mileranges.
Inconjunctionwiththese
productlaunches,weare
establishingnewmarketingand
distributionchannels.Thosewho
haveobservedCobraforthe
lastseveralyearsknowthatour
growthwasfueledbyinnovative
productdevelopmentmarried
withaggressivemarketingand
merchandising.Theresultwas
growthfromapproximately
17,000storefrontsin1998to
morethan38,000today.The
productswelaunchedin2003
andarelaunchingtodayoffer
anevengreateropportunity
withbothdomesticandforeign
accounts.
HereintheUnitedStates,we
areestablishingapresencein
themarine,outdoorandsporting
goodsmarkets,including
servingpremierretailerssuchas
BassProShops,Galyan’sand
GanderMountain.Manyofthese
accountshavepickedupseveral
SKUsacrossourproductlines,
includingtwo-wayradios,marine
VHFradiosandhandheldGPS.
Bothretailersandconsumers
inthesemarketstendtostick
withtheirestablishedbrands,so
thesearenoteasymarketsto
penetrate.However,thissame
tendencycanmakeitrewarding
tobepersistentandestablisha
loyalfollowinginthischannel.
Wearealsopenetrating
theautomotiveaccessories
aftermarket,orthe12-volt
market,withbothourexisting
andnewproducts.Whilewe
havehadtremendoussuccess
withcustomerssuchasPep
BoysandAdvanceAutointhe
past,thereisabroadermarket
thathasbecometremendously
excitedbythenewCobra
products,especiallymobile
navigationproducts.Cobra
viewsthischannelasonethat
canoffermoreconsultativesales
assistance–aproductsold
throughtheseretailerstendsto
staysold.
