Building Value…
Archer Daniels Midland Company is one of the world’s largest agricultural processors,
with a record of uninterrupted profitability extending more than 100 years.
As our cover illustrates, ADM is uniquely positioned in the intersection of three global
trends: growing demand for food to feed a growing and more prosperous global
population; increasing demand for energy and, in particular, transportation fuels from
renewable resources; and growing desire for environmental improvement.
Every day, ADM takes crops—corn, wheat, soybeans, canola, cocoa—and trades,
transports, stores and processes them into food ingredients, feed for animals,
renewable fuels and industrial products. The Company distributes these products
to customers, primarily large food and energy companies and industrial firms,
throughout the world.
With a global network of more than 240 processing plants and 27,000 employees,
ADM operates in 60 countries.
ADM is the global leader in BioEnergy: the largest producer of ethanol in the U.S., and
one of the largest producers of biodiesel in Europe.
The largest corn processor in the world, ADM grinds more than 2 million bushels of
corn a day, producing 24 products from a kernel of corn. ADM is also a premier
processor of oil seeds, processing more than 3 million bushels a day, and one of the
largest refiners and packagers of vegetable oils. The Company grinds about 15% of
the world’s cocoa crop for industrial and retail confectionary chocolate uses, and is
a leading wheat processor.
ADM operates one of the largest and most advanced origination, transportation and
logistics networks in the world. Through a fleet of trucks, railcars, barges, and ship
charters, the Company is able to take grains from anywhere they are produced in the
world, process them into a diverse slate of products, and move these products to any
destination in the world.
