THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) is a leading worldwide developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software.
The company develops products for all popular game systems, personal computers and wireless devices. Headquar-
tered in Los Angeles County, California, THQ sells product through its global network of offices located throughout
North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
A DYNAMIC INDUSTRY
THQ operates in the dynamic interactive entertainment industry. The video game industry is currently
transitioning to a new generation of hardware, marked by the November 2005 launch of Microsofts
Xbox 360. New consoles from Sony and Nintendo are expected in November of 2006. While the transi-
tion poses challenges for video game publishers in the near term, in each of the past hardware transitions,
the market for video games expanded significantly.
SOFTWARE DOLLAR GROWTH
NORTH AMERICA AND EUROPE
According to independent research firm IDG, video game software dollars in North America and Europe
are expected to grow 30% to $18 billion in 2009 from $14 billion in 2005. In addition, new revenue
opportunities from wireless gaming, in-game advertising and online console gaming are expected to grow
to $5 billion in 2009 from $1 billion in 2005, per DFC Intelligence and Montgomery & Co.
