Consistently executing our core business strategy of
delivering bargains is the key to our long-term success.
The primary focus of our buying organization is opportunistic purchases.
The key to delivering bargains is opportunistic buying—or acquiring
name-brand close-outs and surplus goods. Close-out buys—whether
in season or at the end of a season, which we refer to as “packaway”
—typically offer the largest discounts compared to full-priced depart-
ment and specialty stores.
Our buyers are regularly in the market, developing and maintaining
relationships with our large network of about 4,700 vendors and
manufacturers. The investments we have made over the past several
years in both the Ross and dd’s DISCOUNTS®merchant organizations
provide us with a consistent supply of name-brand bargains for the
family and the home.
