Deployed to war zones and natural
disasters, teams of trained servicemen
and women, rescue workers and
emergency professionals use Cobra
handheld GMRS radios to stay in touch.
When cell phone towers
have been flattened by
hurricanes, tsunamis or
armed conflict, Cobra
two-way radios can
provide rescue workers
with immediate, multiple
channels of secure
communication for
ranges up to 12 miles.
communication tool for those who make their living on the road. Cobra has a 60 percent
share of the Citizens Band market and provides a commitment to the category with
product innovations and continuing support. Petersens 4 Wheel Off Road magazine calls
Cobras 19DX IV Citizens Band radio a “Weapon of Survival” advising readers to “Forget
being MacGyver. Just bring the basics to begin with.” Nothing comes close to a Cobra®.
And while Cobra sees the opportunity to innovate, lead and enter new market
categories utilizing cutting edge technology, it also sees the power of nature and its ability
to halt everything. Early in 2005, rescue efforts in the areas of Asia impacted by the
December 2004 tsunami were getting underway. In the absence of cell phone towers,
electricity and phone lines, Cobras two-way radios offered relief workers a method of
communication to help with the challenging task of establishing order. Troops in Iraq
have also used Cobras two-way GMRS radios to communicate quickly and securely in
the war zone.
On the U.S. Gulf Coast in the fall of 2005, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ripped
through communities, leaving destruction and total devastation. Having lost electricity,
phone service and cell towers, this area was desperate for help. Relief workers from all
over the country responded to the call and were able to establish communication and
coordinate local help efforts. In days like these, Cobra is proud its products can make a
difference.
