TO MY FELLOW SHAREHOLDERS:
This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Callaway Golf Company, which has
become one of the most beloved brands in America. We have accomplished much
since Ely Callaway purchased controlling interest in a little niche golf club company
called Hickory Stick USA. In just two and a half decades, we’ve gone from creating
small impressions of clubs from bygone days to defining new frontiers with technology
and innovation for an entire industry.
Callaway Golf is, first and foremost, a truly great team – the best in the business.
Ely Callaway once said that “the only thing more important than the great products we
make are the great people who make them.” He was right. Our team has the best and
brightest talent of any company in golf. We have people from all walks of life – with
every type of background. They are the reason we lead in innovation and technology.
They are also the reason we are one of the best-loved companies in the world.
Compelling evidence of the quality of the people that make up the Callaway
Golf family can be seen in our winning of the 2006 International Torch Award for
Marketplace Ethics from the Better Business Bureau. It is a clear testament to the
high standards we place on the simple concepts of right and wrong and on conducting
every facet of our business honorably and fairly. Ely founded this Company on the
premise that, “good ethics is good business,” and I am proud to say that this spirit is
alive and thriving today.
Great teams require strong leadership, and we made several changes to our
executive management roster in 2006, adding extremely talented people from varied
backgrounds to oversee and direct the Marketing, Operations, International, and
Public Relations facets of our business. They bring a refreshing perspective to our
Company and give us a corporate leadership group that is without peer.
Our professional tour staff is also a big part of our team. In many ways, they are
the public face of the more than 3,000 Callaway Golf employees worldwide: bold,
passionate, and committed to winning. Among our many highly-regarded players,
Phil Mickelson got the year rolling in April when he won his second Masters, and he
