Looking ahead
All of these achievements were made possible by our 28,000 colleagues, whose industry
acumen and tremendous dedication helped ADM weather the global recession and position
us for continued success. We have put in place a strong yet nimble organizational struc-
ture to help us respond quickly and meaningfully to emerging opportunities and evolving
customer needs. And we are emphasizing clear accountability for results and talent
planning that will ensure we have the right people in the right places for years to come.
At this writing, some leading indicators suggest that the worst may be over for the
global economy. With the strategic measures we have taken to strengthen our balance
sheet and build capacity for the future, we are well positioned to respond to new and
emerging opportunities as global markets recover.
In 2010 and beyond, we will maintain our steadfast focus on achieving the right
results, the right way, for the beneļ¬ t of our shareholders, employees, customers and
communities. We will continue to serve vital needs for food and energy. And we will
continue to perform as a company must when its purpose is so vital to the world.
