A&E is successfully using the Datacolor Colorite™ system, which
allows for the electronic transmission of accurate color represen-
tations and stitch configurations with customers.
A&E completed the construction of a modern dyeing and finishing
facility located in Dongguan City, China.
North Carolina and are consolidating some
of the production volumes from the Gastonia,
N.C. dyeing and finishing plant to the Mount
Holly, N.C. dyeing and finishing plant. This
consolidation is designed to allow A&E to
operate more efficiently at current and antici-
pated volume levels and to provide better
work schedules for the remaining associates.
Despite the weak economic results that
A&E and the industry posted, 2001 was an
important transitional year because of the
steps we took that position us to participate
in the global economy. We remain conserva-
tive in our outlook for 2002 and believe that
it will be difficult to increase earnings in the
current environment, but we will continue
to work to improve our competitive position
and will be ready when the economy turns
up again.
