During 2004, Fluor completed the
final power projects that had been
booked during the strong indepen-
dent power project investment
cycle that occurred between 2000
and early 2002. As expected, results
for Fluor’s Power segment declined
significantly in 2004. Operating
profit was $14 million, while back-
log ended the year at $552 million.
New awards, which have been
modest in the past two years, began
to strengthen late in the year, total-
ing $612 million, up 26 percent from
$485 million in 2003.
