business on a global scale. We have built a team
of direct marketing experts that assist our clients
in tapping new customers through a wide array of
online marketing tools and techniques, including
e-mail, paid search, try-before-
you-buy, Web analytics and site
optimization. Our expertise in
global payments enables our
clients to do business with their
customers using virtually any pay-
ment method a customer desires.
In 2006, we believe our strong
global capabilities were a key
factor in Microsoft’s decision
to select Digital River as a key
e-commerce partner for its Office
2007 product line, the new Vista
operating system, Windows
Marketplace and a number of
other important initiatives. These
same capabilities enabled us
to secure a contract extension
with our largest client, Symantec
Corporation, and to win new
business with many other market-
leading companies. Outside of the software vertical,
we added a number of new clients in the consumer
electronics and high tech products market as
many companies look to complement their retail
distribution efforts with direct marketing via an
online store.
During 2006, we continued to enhance our product
offerings and add clients via acquisition as we
completed the purchase of Direct Response, Inc., a
provider of affiliate management technology, and
Mindvision, Inc., an e-commerce solution provider.
We expect to remain acquisitive going forward
and plan to complement our internal development
efforts with select acquisitions.
As we look ahead, we believe the growth
opportunities for Digital River are more numerous
than at any time in the company’s history.
Consumers have made the move to online
purchases of software and are
buying a variety of physical
products online. We believe
Digital River offers a unique
combination of e-commerce
expertise that makes our clients’
decisions to select us as their
global e-commerce provider easy
and rewarding.
Our focus in 2007 will be on
executing on the great new
opportunities we have with major
clients while further enhancing
both our transaction platforms
and our e-marketing capabilities
so that we can continue to help
all of our clients grow their
businesses more effectively.
We also are focused on further
expanding our leadership
position and being first with new
technologies and techniques that will make our
clients’ e-commerce operations more successful
than ever.
As we close 2006, I want to convey my gratitude
to our many clients who are the foundation of our
success as well as our remarkably talented and
dedicated associates who deliver for our clients
every single day. Finally, I’d like to extend my thanks
to you, the shareholders of Digital River, for your
ongoing confidence in our efforts as we continue to
provide leading e-commerce solutions to anyone,
anywhere, anytime.
Joel Ronning, CEO
As we look ahead,
we believe the
growth opportunities
for Digital River are
more numerous than
at any time in the
company’s history.“
